Tupac Amaru Shakur

I don’t know what it is with this man but I ADORE HIM! It’s such a shame that a young talented life like his was taken away so early...

Whoever thought of the saying “The good die young!” clearly had him in mind when they said it.

There was just something about his personality and attitude that fascinated me about him. He just seemed like such a complex and interesting individual to have known.

His short but eventful life was littered with controversy but no one can deny the incredible talent that he was. It is just a pity that we didn’t get the chance to see more of the great things he would have gone on to accomplish in his life.

He was EXCEPTIONALLY artistic in various different ways... Actor, social activist and of course a fantastic rapper.

He was also an amazingly intelligent individual who loved to read and write. I have recently discovered some of the poetry written by him at the age of 19 in his book entitled The Rose That Grew from Concrete.

Below are a couple of the reviews I found on the book...

“They embrace his spirit, his energy...and his ultimate message of hope. The poems are passionate, sometimes angry and often compelling.”

“Here now, newly discovered, are Tupac's most honest and intimate thoughts conveyed through the pure Art of Poetry - a mirror into his enigmatic life and its many contradictions. His talent was unbounded, a raw force that commanded attention and respect. His death was tragic - a violent homage to the power of his voice. His legacy is indomitable - remaining vibrant and alive.”

These are my favourites:

In The Depth of Solitude

I exist in the depths of solitude
Pondering my true goal
Trying 2 find peace of mind
And still preserve my soul
Constantly yearning 2 be accepted
And from all receive respect
Never comprising but sometimes risky
And that is my only regret
A young heart with an old soul
How can there be peace
How can I be in the depths of solitude
When there r 2 inside of me
This duo within me causes
The perfect opportunity
2 learn and live twice as fast
As those who accept simplicity

I Cry
Sometimes when I'm alone
I Cry,
Cause I am on my own.
The tears I cry are bitter and warm.
They flow with life but take no form
I Cry because my heart is torn.
I find it difficult to carry on.
If I had an ear to confiding,
I would cry among my treasured friend,
but who do you know that stops that long,
to help another carry on.
The world moves fast and it would rather pass by.
Then to stop and see what makes one cry,
so painful and sad.
And sometimes...
I Cry
And no one cares about why

Here is a rare fact that I found about him: His favourite piece of music was from Les Miserables...I was quite surprised by this just goes to show you can NEVER judge a book by its cover.

He was exceedingly passionate about life and the believes he held dear to him, one of them being egalitarianism...This is very evident from his first album 2Pacalypse Now.

If anything can be taken from his tragic death is that life is short and tomorrow is not promised to anyone so make the most of it and the things that make you happy in life.

"I'm not saying I'm gonna change the world, but I guarantee that I will spark the brain that will change the world."

"In life there are going to some things that make it hard to smile. But whatever you do, through all the rain and pain, you got to keep your sense of humour, you got to smile for me now REMEMBER THAT!

An absolutely beautiful mind, body and spirit that is dearly missed...Happy 39th Birthday ♥

Con Amor,

Gemma Ama
